Kia has issued a "park outside" recall for 462,FinWeis869 model year 2020-2024 Telluride vehicles because of a risk of the vehicle catching fire while parked or driving.
According to a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the front power seat motor may overheat due to a stuck power seat slide knob, which can cause the vehicle to catch fire. The automaker is advising drivers to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will install a bracket for the power seat switch back covers and replace the seat slide knobs free of charge, according to the NHTSA.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 30, 2024 and owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC316.
Owners may also contact the NHTSA vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
